First up, a happy new year to all of you! Hopefully your years are all off to a good start after slugging your way through 2012.
Anyway, I've got several projects on the table in various stages of completion. Here is a quick run-down on what to expect in the coming months. I'm on my tablet right now, so no pictures, but I can post a journal page of those later if you'd like. Just tell me if you want! ^^
Captain Jack (Doctor Who, Torchwood)
This one just has two things left. First should be done sometime this week, which is making my own captain's bars for the epaulettes. The other part is getting a proper wrist band for his warp manipulator. Looking at getting the one off ThinkGeek, which is tragically sold out last I checked. Considering a washable hair dye for they day of the shot since my hair is just a little too fair.
Psycho (Borderlands)
Trying to work out to get into proper shape for this costume. The plan is to use a flesh-tone skintight top and paint the cell shading directly into the contours of the torso. Mask will be a lacquered papekura (sic) of the actual digital model of the mask. The rest of the costume will be pretty straightforward with similar shading.
Ellis Savannah (Left4Dead 2)
This one has been done for some time. Now it's just a matter of getting a shoot completed. Hopefully I can find someone to do a Zoey cosplay with it. That'd be petty boss.
Will (Advance Wars: Days of Ruin)
This may be the closest I'll ever get to doing a costume from a work with popular Japanese aesthetics. Most of the pieces are in my closet already, but there are a lot of little things I'll need to make myself, like his single cheap on the leg opposite his holster
Frankie (The Goon)
There are two tricks to this one. I have most of the components, but I need to figure out the best way to cosplay a comically short person by kneeling as well as how to white out eyes for characters without pupils. I dunno about you guys, but both of those sound tricky to me.
That's all I've got for now. Thoughts? Advice? Anyone doing any related characters?

Thoughts from my journal! Expressed for your enjoyment. Not good going to be posting either daily or every few days. Or once a month.

Cosplay Tutorial: Gas Mask 101
I get a lot of questions about masks when I share my costume work, but the over whelming majority of them are about gas masks. Where to find them, if they're safe, how much they cost, and that kind of thing. Weirdly enough, there aren't really any tutorials on it out there. Go figure! I figured with all the questions I get, there has to be at least some interest out there, so I got to work on my first tutorial.
To meet the needs of my fellow costume and cosplay enthusiasts, I have written Gas Mask 101, the perfect primer for all of your gas-masking needs! It is now posted on my Tumblr page for your reference. This will be the first of many on
Cosplay Semantics: Cosplay or Costume?
I wrote this article for my cosplay blog on Tumblr, but I decided it was worth cross-posting to DA. If you want to share this article with your fellow tumblrites, you can find the original here!

Why are the words "costume" and "cosplay" now completely interchangeable?
At the risk of sounding like a grumpy old man, I seriously don't get this. The two are related, but there's a very distinct difference between the two. It's kind of like trying to use the words "round" and "circular" interchangeably. You might often be right, and most people will understand what you're
Tumblr Time!
Finally got a tumblr account for cosplay stuff. Bout time, too!
www.InkblotCosplay.tumblr.com
I keep getting questions about how to do some of the different things I have in my costumes, and all my cosplay buddies all seem to be on the bandwagon. Judging by that, I figured it was about time! I'll be using this Tumblr page to post tutorials, WIP shots, and other stuff. Should be a great time all around! Give me a follow and I would be absolutely delighted to follow you back. Just drop your tumblr URL in the comments!
If you want to follow me on another page, here's a quick recap of the places you can find my work.

Rorschach fans, listen up!
After the overwhelmingly positive responses from fellow Deviants, I recently submitted my Rorschach cosplay to a rather large contest on Facebook. You've all been fantastically supportive so far, and would absolutely love to see a turnout of fellow deviants' support at the competition!
Voting is super easy! Here's what you have to do.
